Set in the Shenandoah Valley, surrounded by the Blue Ridge Mountains, Harrisonburg, VA (The Friendy City) is the perfect place to retreat for a long, delightful weekend this Fall.

Join Kendi Opdahl for this 3 day, 2 night experience, October 18-20, 2024, with an option to extend an extra night. This retreat experience offers yoga for all levels, historic & cozy accommodations, gentle hiking, nutritious catered meals, plus a cooking workshop focused on using herbs and fresh ingredients to build good health into our recipes. Let yoga, nature, healthy food, and a little R & R, awaken a peaceful place inside of yourself, that will stay with you well beyond this retreat.

  • separate high end yoga studio space, yoga props provided

  • food as medicine workshop with herbalist, Jennifer Tullo, including workbook, recipes & shared meal

  • guided half day hike to North River Gap, with Kate Williams, local expert

  • free time for rest, reflection, journaling, and exploring

  • option to extend your stay, departing Mon. 10/21. Additional room charge of $175, due with final payment

  • transportation to Harrisonburg, VA

  • Monday departure will cost an additional $175 per attendee, due with the final payment

  • dinner Sunday, lunch or dinner Monday, for those extending

Pricing & Registration

  • $950 total per person-please see included/not included above for details

  • half of the total amount is due upon registration ($475), the second half is due 1-month prior to retreat date ($475 Sept. 18, 2024).

  • registration will be taken through the website, yogawithkendi.com. You will pay the first half of the total amount at registration which will insure your spot. I will not be able to "hold" a spot for you without payment, or via email communication.

  • waiting list: there will be a waiting list if registration exceeds 12 students. I will communicate with you if you are on the waiting list and will "hold" your deposit until further notice. You will receive 100% of your deposits back if you do not get a spot

  • cancellation: if you need to cancel, and I can fill your spot with someone on the waiting list, you will receive all but 10% of the total registration fee ($140). If I can not fill your spot (and I will do my very best), you will forfeit the initial payment of $475..

Accommodations:

  • there are a total of 10 bedrooms at the Friendly City Inn, with 14 beds total

  • rooms will be assigned using a lottery. As registrations come in, rooms will be assigned. If you would like to request to room with a friend, please email me once both registrations are complete. There is no guarantee that everyone will get the requested placement.

Travel:

  • approximately 4 hours from Kennett Sq. by car

  • nearest airport is Staunton (SHD) 13.1 miles to Harrisonburg, VA

  • airport option 2, Washington Dulles (IAD) 84.7 miles, or approx. 2 hours to Harrisonburg, VA

Arrival Day (Friday Oct. 18)

  • 12:30pm optional meet & greet for lunch in the Friendly City (lunch not included, location TBD)

  • 2:00pm check in to Friendly City Inn B& B

  • 4:00-5:00pm yoga & welcome circle

  • 5:30pm workshop at FCI with herbalist Jennifer Tullo, share meal together

  • 8pm free time to socialize

  • 10pm enjoy your room

Day 2 (Saturday Oct. 19)

  • 8:00am breakfast

  • 10:30am morning meditation & full-spectrum vinyasa flow with Kendi

  • 12:30pm lunch

  • 2pm guided hike

  • 4pm free time for reflection, journaling, rest

  • 7:00pm dinner

  • 10pm enjoy your room

Day 3 (Sunday Oct. 20)

  • 8:00am breakfast

  • 10:00am check out for those leaving Sunday after programming

  • 10:30am morning yoga & mediation closing circle, survey

  • 12:30 lunch out

  • following lunch, no programming for the rest of the day/night

Day 4 (Monday Oct.21)

  • 8:00-10:00am breakfast

FAQs:

  • there are a total of 10 bedrooms. Single room accommodations are available, first come first serve

  • special dietary needs will be accommodated

  • enjoy moderate temperatures in Sept. along with beautiful fall leaf viewing

  • expect evening free time to be built into the retreat schedule for relaxing, journaling, and reflection

  • silent reflection time may be part of programming

  • it would be appreciated if attendees would stay at Friendly City Inn, in the evenings, following programming

  • no talking or music permitted outdoors after 10pm

  • there are two departure options for your convenience. no programing Sunday after 12 noon

  • an additional $175 will be charged per attendee for those staying on Sunday night, which includes breakfast Monday morning between 8-10am. Dinner is not included on Sunday

About Kendi:

  • yoga is an exploration of Self for Kendi, 500RYT & Big Heart Meditation instructor, who offers Vinyasa Flow, Yin, Restorative Yoga, and meditation. Kendi is a warm and welcoming teacher who is passionate about helping students find a meditative practice through movement, breath, meditation and quiet reflection. She loves to help women of all ages, and welcomes anyone who comes to the mat with an open mind and an open heart.

Extra Info:

**optional departure day: there are two departure options for attendees, Sunday afternoon and Monday morning. We will wrap up retreat programming on Sunday around 1:00pm, following lunch and closing circle. For others who would like a longer transition, there will be an option to leave on Monday morning at 11am. There will be no programming beginning at 1:30pm on Sunday.

For Monday morning check out: Break fast will be served between 8:00-10:00am. Check out is at 11am, Lunch on Friday and Dinner on Sunday will not be included in your total package price. An additional $175 will be collected for Sunday evening stay & Monday morning breakfast. You are welcome to depart when you like on Monday, Oct. 21, 2024.
